The Pueblo of Pojoaque Wellness Center believes in providing recreational events to promote the balance between Mind, Body, & Spirit. We do this by providing opportunities for fitness team sports, group exercise, organized runs, and social wellness events.

Jamii Running Camp

Jamii Running Camp is for children from 8-16 years old. The Camp is from August 5th to August 7th,2019! Each participant will cost $10 for each day of the camp. The participants will be divided in groups according to age and ability.
The camp is open to the public. This Registration and Release Form for the Jamii Running Camp must be completed and returned either electronically (scanned and signed) to firstname.lastname@example.org or to the front desk of the Pojoaque Wellness Center. Please complete a separate Registration and Release Form for each athlete in your family. Payment may be made at the front desk of the Pojoaque Wellness Center or mailed to Jamii Running Project, 35 Via Tessera, Santa Fe, NM 87507. Payment may be either cash or check. Checks should be made to Pojoaque Wellness Center. Cost is $10.00/day per athlete. Participants may sign up for any or all of the three days. Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures:
Each day athletes need to arrive at the Pojoaque Wellness Center lobby between 7:45-8:00 AM and must depart between 3:00-4:00 PM. The running camp concludes at 3:00 PM each day however athletes are invited to use the indoor pool from 3:00-4:00 each day. Parent/Guardian must park their vehicle and walk with their child into the front desk of the Wellness Center and sign the athlete into the camp for the day.
Athletes should dress appropriately for the activities scheduled. We recommend shorts and a light weight shirt or top and an athletic running shoe or sneaker. Sandals, flip-flops, rubber “crocs”-style shoes, and all open-toed shoes are not acceptable attire for our activities. Shirts should have a minimum of 1” wide shoulder straps. Clothing that displays drugs, alcohol, tobacco, offensive language, excessive bagginess, or is excessively revealing will not be permitted. If the athlete is staying after the camp concludes to swim, he or she must bring appropriate swim wear and towel.
Athletes should not bring toys, mobile phones, electronic devices, jewelry, money, or any possession of value with them to any of the programs. Children will be responsible for their belongings. A storage box will be provided for each athlete.
Please apply sunscreen prior to the start of each camp session. Athletes may bring sunscreen but must be able to reapply with staff supervision. Spray or mist sunscreen. Sunscreen must be labeled with child’s name. Athletes may not share sunscreen with others.
Behavior Management/Discipline Policy:
Pojoaque Pueblo and Jamii Running Project staff will create a fun and safe environment for participants in the program. Praise and positive reinforcement are used as effective methods of behavior management. Athletes who do not respond to these methods or who are destructive to others or to property will be dealt with in a professional, positive, and timely manner to correct the behavior. The following procedures will be followed for behavior management. All incident reports will be discussed privately with parents/guardians and a copy of each report will be kept on file at the Pojoaque Wellness Center. 1. In the event a child’s behavior is a repeated behavior and cannot be corrected by the Camp Staff with a verbal warning or other form of behavior modification, a first incident report will be written to document and correct behavior. A copy of the report will be given to the parent/guardian the same day as the incident. 2. A second incident report will be written if the behavior is repeated by or new behavior problems occur with the same child. This report will follow the same process as the first, but a one or two day suspension could accompany this report, and no refund will be provided for suspended days. A copy of the report will be given to the parent/guardian the same day as the second incident. 3. A third incident report will be completed using the same process as the first two. The Camp Staff will write this report. Staff will provide this report to the parent/guardian. Incident reports will be discussed privately with a parent/guardian by Camp Staff and Director. Dismissal from a program can occur at this time. NOTE: Immediate dismissal from the program can occur at any time given severe circumstances. Refunds for missed days due to a discipline dismissal will not be granted.
